In October 1999 green activists hijacked the London Eye - then called the Millennium Wheel - and members of the Rope Squad climbed up the rim of the Eye to talk to the activists who had set up a bivouac campsite on top of the structure. After the negotiations, the officers abseiled down from the top of the wheel.
